How a platform switch works, from order to the last tracker.

Most switches go in the same order. The server comes first, then the accounts, then the trackers in batches, and the old account closes last. How long it takes depends on how many units you have and whether you can change their settings remotely.

The six stages.

  1. Stage 1

    Order and send your details

Pick a plan with room for more devices than you have today. Send us your logo and colours, the web address you want for the portal and the name of the platform you're leaving.

  2. Stage 2

    Your server goes live

Usually within a day of payment, your server is running at your address with your branding in place and an administrator login ready for you.

  3. Stage 3

    Load accounts and devices

From a supported platform, we import accounts, devices and history for you. Ask us whether yours is one. Otherwise, you upload a device spreadsheet and add client accounts in the portal.

  4. Stage 4

    Run a pilot batch

Repoint a handful of units, starting with your own vehicles and one client who'll tell you straight if something looks wrong. Compare trips, ignition times and alerts with the old platform.

  5. Stage 5

    Move the rest

Move the remaining units one client at a time, or by tracker model if that makes the commands easier. Give each client a few days' notice.

  6. Stage 6

    Close the old account

When the last unit has been reporting to your server for several days, export what you need from the old platform and cancel.

Who does what.

We look after the server. You look after the units and the clients.

Choosing a plan size

Count the trackers and cameras you'll bring over, then add the growth you expect this year. If the total is close to a plan's limit, take the next one up. Or begin smaller and upgrade when the pilot has gone well.

When to begin

If you bill clients monthly, don't move units in the last week of the month. Begin the pilot early in a month, so you can bill the next month cleanly from your server.

Questions about the switch

What details should I send when I order?

Your trading name, your logo in light and dark versions, the web address you'd like for the portal (track.yourcompany.com, for example) and the platform you're on now. We'll reply with the DNS record to add.

How long does the whole switch take?

It depends on how many units you have and whether you can change their settings remotely. A few dozen trackers that accept remote commands can move within a week. A few hundred units spread over many clients usually take a few weeks, one client at a time.

Can we keep our current domain for the portal?

Yes. Use a subdomain of the domain you already have, such as track.yourcompany.com. Your main website stays where it is.

Put your name on the platform your clients use.

Order online and we'll usually have your branded server running within a day, ready for your first trackers.
