Move your trackers by changing where they report.

Three ways to send the new address.
Which one you use depends on the model, and on what the old platform still lets you do.
A command from the old platform
Most tracking platforms can send commands to connected units. On many models, one command sets both the server and the port, and the unit connects to your server soon after.
An SMS to the SIM
Most trackers accept settings by SMS, often with a password at the start. You'll need the SIM numbers, which the account import brings over from a supported platform. The device spreadsheet also has a column for them.
A cable or the maker's tool
Some models can only be set up with a laptop and the maker's software, or over Bluetooth. Someone has to go to the vehicle, so group these units by client and location.
Before a unit moves.
A few minutes of preparation per model will save you a lot of phone calls later.
- Add the device to your server first, under the IMEI or ID it already sends
- Look up the port for its protocol on the Tracker ports page in your portal documentation
- Note its current server and port, so you can send it back if you need to
- Test the exact command on one unit before you send it to a batch
- Search for the model below if you haven't used it with us before
Look up a model.
Only the more common models are in the search. The full list is much longer, at 4,800 device types. Click a maker for its models, or search by part of a model name.

After a unit moves
It should show up on your map within a few minutes. Wait for a trip and compare it with the old platform. The route and ignition times should match, and the speeds should look right. If the unit has inputs such as a door switch or a fuel probe, check those readings too.
If a unit doesn't show up
Open the server log of devices reporting without an account. If its IMEI is there, the unit is reaching your server but hasn't been added yet, or its ID was entered differently. If it isn't listed, check the host, the port and the APN.
Questions about repointing units
What if the old provider set a password on the units?
On many trackers, an SMS setting only works with the device password in front of it. Ask the old provider for it, or try the maker's default if nobody changed it. If that fails, the maker's configuration tool and a cable can usually reset the unit.
Can the trackers keep their current SIM cards?
Yes, if the SIM contracts are yours. Changing the server address doesn't touch the APN or the data bundle. If the old provider supplied the SIMs, agree how they'll be released, or plan to replace them.
Does a unit's ID change on the new server?
No. Your server matches a unit by the IMEI or ID it already sends. Add the device under that number before you repoint it.
